Even though we didn't have a Media lesson today, we spent 1 hour in the computer room continuing with the editing of our film opening. We are aware that tomorrow's 2 hour lesson is the last chance we're going to get on this, so we had to put as much effort into trying to finish it today as possible. Here is a quick summary of what we did today:- Watched through what we had done so far - this was to refresh our memories of it all and helped us pick up on any mistakes or things we needed to change.
- Change our credit order - after watching it through a few times, we weren't sure that our credits were positioned in the right places and we decided to change them around a bit. This meant we had to remove them from the scenes we had already placed them on and put them on the new scenes we had chosen.
- Video transitions - we worked a bit more on the dissolving, fading and other transitions we are including as each scene ends and starts so that the audience can tell whether it's a location change or not, and it also builds the tension of what our audience would be feeling.
- Audio transitions - we also worked on the transitions of the audio, meaning we had them fading out and other audio clips fading in, so that it was much calmer to the ear and everything flowed well together.
- Font change - we were unhappy with the way our 'normal' font looked for the credits of '10 years ago' and 'June 14th 2001' so we changed them to the font we are using for the actors credits, meaning they are all the same.
Obviously, not every single second of these video clips will be used as not every single second is what we want, although some of the ones that are above I liked some parts of it, so we're going to have to use our Final Cut skills to edit the audio and put some together to make one.
WHY HAVE I DONE THIS?
Music is now the most important part of our coursework, as the scheduling, acting and filming ended a long time ago. Music is the one aspect of a horror/thriller genre type film that has to be absolutely perfect for the whole film to connect with the audience and get the message you want across to them. This is why I have taken the time to choose specific ones to fit our film, and tomorrow I will show them to Laura and we will decide which ones we use.
